Johan Wennström

Managing Director

Johan Wennström helped universities in Sweden, Finland and Norway to develop alumni relations programs in the late 1990s and early 2000s (as co-founder of Mira Network). He started collaborating with Brakeley in 2005, and became Managing Director of Brakeley Nordic in 2010.

Inger Stern

Partner / Senior Consultant

Inger Stern joined Brakeley in 2016. Between 2003-2015, Inger Stern worked as Fundraising Director at Linköping University. She helped the university set up their fundraising operation and then led two capital campaigns. Inger also has extensive experience of managing strategic partnerships between Linköping University and corporations.

Henric Nummi-Södergren

Consultant

Henric joined Brakeley in 2019. He has previously worked with fundraising for UNICEF Sweden in 2014-2015 and 2018-2019, where he successfully developed the organization´s F2F-operation during an expansion phase. As the president of Stockholm university student union 2016-2018, he led change processes in an NGO with over 16.000 members.

Olof Hugander

Senior Associate Consultant

Olof first joined Brakeley in 2008. After spending 8 years in grantmaking at one of Sweden’s largest foundations, he later re-joined Brakeley in 2018. He has been a member of SEB’s Philanthropy Sounding Board and has led consulting assignments for a broad range of nonprofits

Hanna Szinai

Consultant

Hanna joined Brakeley in 2023. Previously she held a position at 180 Degrees Consulting Stockholm, where she provided consultancy services for a sustainability startup. Hanna is also currently the Editor-in-Chief and project leader of the school newspaper at the Stockholm School of Economics.

Harriet Wallberg

Chair / Senior Adviser

Harriet was President of Karolinska Institutet 2004-2012 and Director General of Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ) 2014-2016. Harriet Wallberg led the first capital campaign of Karolinska Institutet.

Pekka Lehtinen

Senior Associate Consultant

Before joining Brakeley, Pekka worked 23 years at the oldest and one of the leading Finnish corporate law firms, and has also worked in law firms and a commercial bank in USA. Since 2015 Pekka has been in the Board of Kiasma Support Foundation and he has been acting as the chairman of the Board since 2017. Kiasma is the leading contemporary art museum in Finland.

Per Leander

Senior Adviser

Per joined Brakeley in 2019. He has a broad experience of leadership positions within the non-profit sector. He previously worked as the secretary general of Friends Foundation 2017-2019 and the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation 2012-2017, enabling both organizations to exceed fundraising targets. Between 2015-2020, he served as the chair of Giva Sverige, the Swedish Fundraising Association.

Astrid von Soosten

Germany

Astrid von Soosten used to be head of resource development at EMBL, Europe’s flagship laboratory for the life sciences – an intergovernmental organisation with more than 80 independent research groups. Previously, she was senior director of development and director of library development at University of California Santa Cruz.

Johannes Ruzicka

Germany

Johannes Ruzicka became a fundraiser in 2002. He started as the head of the fundraising department at TU Munich and has, since 2005, been supporting over 60 different organisations in Europe as a fundraising consultant. Clients include Vienna University of Economics and Business, EMBL – European Molecular Biology Laboratory, UNICEF and Berlin Cathedral.

Konstantin Reetz

Germany

Konstantin has been active as a fundraising consultant since 2005. He has extensive experience in building and developing fundraising operations for universities and NGOs in the German-speaking region. Previously he worked as a senior business analyst for Roland Berger and finished a PhD degree in molecular biology at TU Munich.

Alison Graham

United Kingdom

Alison has worked with Brakeley since 2007 for a range of clients across several sectors including culture and higher education, as well as with her own clients, particularly in independent education. In 2010-11, she was Interim Director of Development at St Catherine’s Bramley, closing out a major capital campaign for this leading independent school.

Bruno van Dyk

United Kingdom

Bruno van Dyk has over 20 years of experience in development work and university advancement on every continent, except South America. During this time, he has led major university advancement endeavours, exceeding targets in income and alumni engagement. Most recently, he served as Director of Development and Alumni Relations at Durham University.

Carsten Vogel

United Kingdom

Carsten has worked in the think tank and NGO sector both in London and Germany before moving into higher education development working at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and Queen Mary University London. He offers over 14 years of experience in fundraising, strategic communications and program management.

Claire (Kilner) Brownlie

United Kingdom

Claire joined Brakeley Ltd in 2019 as Managing Director and Partner. She has worked in Advancement (PR, Alumni Engagement and Fundraising) in the UK Higher Education sector since the mid 1990s, most recently as Director of Development at Queen Mary University of London where she was responsible for a team delivering alumni engagement, regular giving and major gifts.

Hugh Aldridge

United Kingdom

Hugh specializes in corporate engagement, partnerships and fundraising. From 2014 – 2016 he was Head of Development – Corporate at the University of Oxford, where he was responsible for increasing the breadth and depth of the University’s engagements with companies around the world. Previously Hugh has worked with corporate engagement at many other universities, including MIT and UC Berkeley.

John Kelly

John is a pioneer in British and European fundraising. Before becoming a consultant, John was the CEO of Regent’s College, London. As a fundraising consultant he has advised clients in many countries throughout the world. He was the first consultant to introduce capital campaigns into several European countries including Sweden, Netherlands, Germany, and many others.

Lucy S Blythe

Lucy has over 30 years’ US, UK, EU and African experience. After a career raising millions for culture and the environment, she founded Philia International in 2009 to transform boards and non-profit leadership. She now acts as strategic adviser to non-profits, intergovernmental organisations and philanthropists, for instance establishing the CERN & Society Foundation and leading organisational development for Afrobarometer.

Ibrahim Al-Turki

Saudi Arabia

ibrahim Al-Turki is the founder and CEO of Wafi International, the first company in the Arab Gulf region, specialized in the development of non-profit organizations and social responsibility programs. Ibrahim is a strategy consultant of many wealthy donor individuals and families in the Arab Gulf region — who are actively involved in philanthropic works, through their dedicated endowments/ trust funds, donor institutions, charitable associations, and/or corporate social responsibility programs related to their businesses.

Gisela Keller

Gisela Keller has worked with leaders of global nonprofits, foundations and private companies all over the world. Before her consulting career, Gisela was a program officer at the Goldman Sachs Foundation, Head of Public Affairs at Dresdner Bank, steering corporate philanthropy and Program Director at the Armonk Institute.

Goran Radin

Goran Radin is since more than 20 years active in the field of philanthropy, expert for Major Donor fundraising. After a career in Private Banking for international and Swiss clients (UHNWIs and HNWIs) he develops strategies for non-profit-organizations to implement Major Donor fundraising campaigns. For financial institutions he creates philanthropy strategies in order to serve the needs of their clients.

Peter Buss

Switzerland

Peter Buss has more than 20 years of consulting and operational experience in NPO management and fundraising, especially capital campaigns, foundation fundraising and strategic fundraising planning. He founded www.stiftungschweiz.ch, the leading online platform for foundations in Switzerland. He also co-founded the Swiss Philanthropy Roundtable Zurich.

Arnaud Marcilhacy

France

Arnaud helps non-profit institutions to raise major gifts in France, French-speaking Belgium, Switzerland and Africa. He has directed major fundraising campaigns in France for organisations like Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Ecole Centrale Paris and Fondation Napoléon, as well as abroad for institutions like the Musée de la Croix Rouge et du Croissant Rouge in Geneva and the Fondation Briser le Silence in Kinshasa.
